Dig This Productions, LLC has created software to streamline communications among nonprofits, faith groups and organizations committed to making more healthy, equitable, and empowered communities.
Ted and Flori Pate successfully launched Dig Local, Asheville's App, 10 years ago. Throughout the years, many of their clients have shared their thoughts of how the software could be used in multiple ways for different applications. Currently, proprietary software is in development to make this happen.

Throughout the years, many of their clients have shared their thoughts of how the software could be used in multiple ways for different applications. Currently, proprietary software is in development to make this happen.
(Interesting fact: Ted Pate was born and raised in Burlington and his parents still reside in his childhood home on Walker Avenue!)

The technology was originally built to seamlessly connect customers to local businesses and keep them in the know about what’s going on in the community. Recognizing the benefits of the software, and that the ease of use could apply to other networks, they have repurposed the technology for use in the nonprofit sector. This will better connect the hardworking nonprofits to each other, and become a client-facing tool to connect neighbors directly with the services they're seeking.

Dig Local also birthed an Asheville 501(c)3 of their own, Food Connection, Inc. Flori Pate, co-founder of Dig Local and founder of Food Connection is very aware of the importance of collaboration. The Dig Local software allows nonprofits to conserve resources and avoid duplicity of efforts. It provides a more efficient and innovative way to help our neighbors connect to the services they need. Definitely check out Food Connection's work rescuing chef-prepared meals from places like The Omni Grove Park Inn, and redistributing them through a "Free Food Truck Experience" where ALL are welcome.
See how Dig's technology could work to connect area nonprofits and churches for the good of the Alamance County community. (this video has no audio)
Every nonprofit partner would get direct access to the app so they could make updates such as an emergency need, an event, a housing opportunity, a seminar or workshop, a free meal and so much more. Watch how simple it is to make updates! (play audio for VoiceOver instructions)
In late January of 2024, Burlington-based nonprofit Peg's PJs received a generous donation from Bomba socks. Peg's distributes socks and PJs to displaced families in Alamance County. Getting 10,000 pairs is way more than her handful of recipient partners could use. How wonderful would it be for her to immediately share this news to the greater community in order to quickly get warm, new socks on the feet of ALL of Alamance County's neighbors who need them? Dig Local's software can make this happen!
Nonprofits log in with a user name and password and easily post updates such as this which will be seen by multiple nonprofits, faith groups who may be in desperate need of this service. Prior to this technology, the opportunity would have been missed. This is just ONE example of how the technology could be used to effectively and efficiently solve a problem.
Fun fact: Peg was Ted's grandmother. Ted's mother, Bobbie Pate, started this Burlington nonprofit 15 years ago in her honor. Have you heard of it? You would have it there was an Alamance County resources app!
